Little Sucker!

My second layout has been posted over on the Scrap Our Stash  Challenge blog and this time the challenge is a sketch and to use bling!

Here is the sketch.

This is my interpretation of the sketch which I turned on it's side. I found this picture of my eldest daughter whilst looking for three photo's and decided that I had to scrap it (she is seventeen now!) so I added two Polaroid frames in place of the other two photo's.
Instead of a solid circle I used a lot of bubble die cuts placed in a sort of circle and put my photo's and embellies on top.

On this speech bubble there was a heart at the bottom so I covered it in bling and placed it on one of the Polaroid frames.

The photo shows my daughter at about eight months old and she had a sponge in the bath that she would always suck the warm water through and drink it! Hence the title 'Little Sucker'.

I have always loved the look of a stitched banner so I thought I would create one for this layout as I had my sewing machine out at the time.

Lots of doodling as usual and a splattering of bling around the page. This has ended up as one of my favourite layouts, maybe it is because of the photo or the colours or because of the detail I put into it.

Now you have seen what I have done with the sketch it's your turn to have a go. All the details of the challenge can be found on the Scrap Our Stash Blog HERE.

Hope you are having a great week. xx

Should Have Gone To Specsavers!

I have been sorting things out for my holiday this weekend - you know how it goes.....the extra shopping trips for new swimmies, the tying off of loose ends like car MOT and taking library books back. But I couldn't go away without entering the Sarah's Card's Sketch Challenge for this month!

I loved the sketch as it immediately made me think of lots of washi tape!
I turned it anti-clockwise for my use.

I had to scrap this photo of my Dad wearing my daughters panda sleep mask, he was being so silly, but then it was Christmas Day and he had been to the pub with my husband!! (whilst us ladies cooked the dinner!).
I came up with the title after watching the advert for Specsavers and thought it appropriate as my Dad does wear glasses!
The image of the glasses was just printed from the internet and coloured in with my Promarkers.

I have amassed some great washi tapes and really enjoyed putting them together to make a bright fun page.

I haven't got a die for chevrons but I do have a really old Sizzix Originals die for photo corners which works just as well!
I love these tiny stars, they are just party sprinkles that you can pick up from the celebration section in supermarkets, but they add just a touch of sparkle on a mans page!

Well I hope you enjoyed seeing my silly page and if you get a chance you should check out Sarah's Cards Blog not only for their great challenges but the DT have wonderful inspiration for all to see!

All details for this challenge can be found HERE.

Have a great week and thanks for visiting. xx

Friendly Challenge.

Yes my friend Helen and I have got together again with another challenge! This time it was to use the same roll of the cutest washi tape courtesy of Helen.

Don't you agree this is the sweetest pattern on a washi tape?

Please click on the images for a clearer view.

This one is my page and I had a bit of fun to start with by adding some texture paste with a mask for my background and then added some paint splats. The papers are MME and the title was die cut out of thin balsa wood.

I made some clouds, some plain and some with the cloud washi tape covering them. On my second cloud I found out that I could match up the design on the tape so that the clouds were whole when I placed one strip next to another.

I had a piece of tape covered card left over so I punched a circle out and placed it under the photo with a few word stickers, balsa butterfly and some wooden stars.

I loved Helen's page design with the ripped and stitched centre cardstock and her gorgeous patterned papers. She placed a long strip of washi tape under the photo of her girls with their pony.

Helen also used her washi tape in the top corner, cut into a banner strip. (spot the cute bird she cut from some of her paper).

Here is a close up of all the fussy cutting that Helen did from the patterned papers that are cloud themed as well. These are gorgeous papers that not only have lovely colours and designs but are glittered as well, what more could you ask from scrapbook papers!!

There is no rest for the wicked so we have set our next challenge already which is to use our terribly neglected stitching templates! We both have several sets and quite a few that are the same so it will be interesting to see what we  do with them, I think I will do some research and see if I can find some creative use for them other that stitching straight onto my page.

I hope you enjoyed seeing our different layouts and I will be back tomorrow with my second page for Scrap Our Stash.
Thanks for dropping in.

Happy New Year!

I know it's a funny thing to post about in July but actually it's the title of my layout, I haven't been asleep for the past six and a half month's. Honest!

The layout was made for the About A Girl 1st July challenge which was simply to use the word NEW on your page. I love it when they take it easy on me!!

I came across the glitter patterned paper whilst having a clear out of my paper mountain (just a large hill of paper left!!) and thought it looked like fireworks and would be great for scrapping the photo's from the New Year display we went to locally.

This is the first page of a double page layout but as it is for the challenge over at About a Girl I thought I would have the title on this page with the word 'NEW' as it only has girls in the photo's.

Here is the two pages together but you will have to click on it to see it more clearly. I kept the design very simple because of the busy paper and the multiple photo's, just adding the journaling and some glitter bursts at the bottom and around the title.
The firework display was one of the best I have been to at New Year. The fireworks were set off from boats in a harbour so they were reflected in the water giving twice the effect!

I recently treated myself to a new stitching template from American Crafts from HERE and used the city scape template to make a scene for the join where the two different papers met. First I stitched the buildings and then carefully cut around them. (make sure you have glue handy for those minor mishaps with the scissors when you cut through the threads crossing at the back!).

Now as I type, About A Girl Challenge blog has just posted a new sketch challenge but you can still enter this one until the end of the month too. All the details can be found HERE

Thank you for taking the time to visit little 'ole me and hope you will come back soon.
 Hugs, Kerry.

Party People! Sketch N Scrap #37.

Hello and welcome to a new week of crafty opportunity! We won't worry about housework opportunity because we have much more satisfying things we could be getting on with instead!!

We lovely ladies at Sketch N Scrap have a new challenge for you today - our second layout sketch of the month!

It's sketch #37 and designed by the talented Kelly Holifield.

Here is my page using the sketch and it shows my niece and nephew having fun at my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary.
I used so little paper, just the two strips at the bottom and a tiny piece at the top! The chevrons are washi tape and the bursts are glitter card. If I was trying to use up my paper stash with this layout I would have failed miserably!!

The burst die is a really old Sizzlets one that I have had for years and hardly used but for some reason I seem to find more uses for it these days!
Have you rediscovered an old tool or die that was forgotten and given it a new lease of life lately? I think I may have to have a good hunt through my stash and see if I can find some more oldies but goodies!

So now that you have seen the sketch all you have to do now is to drop in on the rest of the lovely Sketch N Scrap DT members and see what they have created and of course have a go at the challenge yourself because the prize is a good one again this month ( you will have to visit the SNS blog to find out what it is)!

All the details of how to enter can be found HERE.

Happy Crafting (is there any other kind?).

Sketchbook 365 July Challenge.

I have just realised that I had not posted my entry for Sketchbook 365 July Challenge so it is by the skin of my teeth that I am doing it now!

This is the sketch with lots of layers to play with!

As the sponsor this month at Sketchbook365 is BasicGrey I thought I would scrap some more of my NYC trip as I am only using BasicGrey in the album to give it more continuity throughout.
There are some scraps from other manufacturers and some free digital elements on my page too a real eclectic mix!

I recently treated myself to some wooden letters from Sarah's Cards so I added NYC to the journaling tag that is tucked behind the photo's. I promise I have added the journaling now! It just looks better for the photo's not to see my scruffy handwriting!

Just a quick view of the other side of the page.

If you're quick you have just got time to have a go at the July challenge too. All the details can be found HERE along with all the great inspiration from the new DT members.

Hoping your day is sunny like mine.
Thanks for stopping by. xx

Red, White and Blue.

I have my first layout as DT member at Scrap Our Stash challenge blog today and I am excited to be part of this team as their challenges really are making me look at the older contents of my stash to use up! (which is all good!).
There is a reveal everyday of the new (and returning) design team members so make sure you visit often to say hi to all the lovely ladies and of course join us in our challenges.

Here is the first challenge for this month (there will be a sketch challenge on 15th).

RED, WHITE & BLUE

Create a LAYOUT (any theme) using your stash of RED WHITE and BLUE
papers and embellies.
Kraft is the ONLY other color you can use with these colors.
and....
you MUST include (3) or more Pre-made STAR embellishments of your choice!
(Brads, buttons, eyelets, cardstock stickers, chipboard, etc)

Here is my layout for this challenge and I couldn't resist using some photo's from last years Diamond Jubilee as they sprang to mind as soon as I received the challenge details.
I decided to re-create the Union Jack flag as my background using cardstock, I was pleased with the outcome although the photo's hide a multitude of mistakes (shhhh!).

Finding stars to add to my layout was a bit tricky as I only had some yellow star buttons or tiny gold star sequins! So armed with my Promarkers I re-coloured all the gold stars to blue and red and adhered them around my title.

Then it was time to add the traditional English bunting - in glitter card of course! Then I die cut some bigger stars and printed out some sayings to complete my page.

I hope you can join us with this challenge and you could win a fabulous prize so go to the Scrap Our Stash blog to see all the details.

Back soon.

Keeping it in the Family Part 2.

Do you remember last month when my cousin Jan sent six sheets of double sided papers for me and my mum then challenged us to create not only a page with the same papers (three sheets only) but the same photo too? Here is a reminder.
Well this month we had to use the other three double sided papers and the same photo, this time the photo was of everyone who attended my parents 50th wedding anniversary party.

Here are all three of our layouts.

For my layout I wanted to use the sheet of doily paper as my background as I loved the colour of it and then added some 'real' doilies to bring the pattern in to the rest of the page. I am totally into ripping my paper at the moment so I added a couple of ripped strips above and below my photo and out onto the pink paper.

These tickets were cut from one of the papers that had all different colour/design tickets on it. I backed them with some of the brown cardstock that I made the butterfly from to help them stand out.

I recently purchased some new buttons and I found that they co-ordinated with this layout, so of course I made room for them (always room for a few buttons!).

Here is Jan's gorgeous page and like me she has used a whole sheet as her background but the stripey one instead. Jan has added lots of layering and doodling (a girl after my own heart) and I love the tag with the details made from  Dymo strips.

Look at these beautiful flowers Jan has placed in the corner of the photo, you just wouldn't think that this colour combo would look so stunning!

And my favourite element of Jan's page is the banner she made using those tickets, can you see she has even used eyelets to thread the twine through. Her attention to detail is amazing, she has also added some ink splattering and buttons of course!

Last but certainly not least is my mum Joan's page and she has gone for using some plain cardstock as her background, and has used the ticket paper as a backdrop to her photo. She has punched circles from some of the other patterns, doodled on them all and made them into a scalloped strip (doodling must run in the family!).

I love how Mum has cut this zig-zag paper into strips and made them into banners. Decorated with buttons too!

A great title made from Basic Grey letter stickers and placed in a circle. I never think of doing my titles like that but may have to pinch the idea in the future!

Well I hope you enjoyed seeing our family challenge and I know we will get together with a different one soon, (I just need to think of a good one!).

Go check out my creative cousin Jan's blog HERE  for more of her gorgeous Arty Junk (this is what she calls her blog!) and say hi. She doesn't just play with paper like me, there is stitching and altering and inking and ........ just get yourself over there and see for yourself!

Thanks for stopping by. xx

We Scare Because we Care! Color Me Scrappy Challenge.

Happy Wednesday!
I have a page to share with you today that I created for the fabulous Color Me Scrappy Challenge #41.

The challenge is to use this colour combo,......... just my kind of bright!

And to use this sketch.

Here is my page which I had such fun creating.  I have used different colour/size alphas for my title and printed off the Monsters Inc. logo from the internet for an embellishment.

I recently purchased a stamp set from Maya Road called 'Perfect Shot Arrows' which had this great chevron stamp in it. I thought I would turn the chevrons to point at the title - just to change it around a bit!

Instead of the one big star I die cut three different coloured ones from glitter card and grouped them together. (I had to get some glitter in somewhere!!).

Color Me Scrappy  challenge #41 is running for another few days so if you want the details you can find them HERE.

Thanks for dropping in on me and I hope you pop by tomorrow as I will have another scrappy creation to share with you. Until then have a great day. xx

Busy, Busy Me!

Apologies for my absence here lately but I was away over the weekend at a crop that I organised so I had plenty to do before, during and after the event that took me away from you - my lovely followers!
This was the second of these Friday to Sunday crops that I have arranged and although we camped out in a community hall rather than had the luxury of proper beds we all had a great time! It was like being a Girl Guide all over again, with sharing the chores, blowing up your inflatable bed and lots of paper, glue and scissors! Such fun! And it only cost £16 - who needs an expensive hotel?

I have a couple of photo's to share of my weekend, this first one was taken when everyone else had left the main hall to have lunch and as you can see there isn't a bare piece of table to be seen. The little table in the centre was our 'messy table' where we could spritz and splat our paints and inks without fear of redecorating the hall!

Here is a pic of the animals at the trough....I mean the ladies at the lunch table! We had all contributed to the lunch menu which was a delicious salad most of which was homemade. Then a fresh fruit salad and homemade cakes for pudding!

Just so you know this is a crafty blog here is a layout I made over the weekend showing the very first Bradfield Craft Club weekend crop back in February.
We also had the lovely Sandie teaching her 'mini maxi book'  and a row of 'show and tell' tables for putting on a exhibition of our creations to the rest of the group.

Well now you know why I have been missing perhaps you can forgive me!

Have you ever organised a weekend away with your scrappy/crafty friends? If you have a local hall that allows you to spend the night in and some crafty friends willing to chip in with putting up tables and providing a few items of food then you have the ingredients for a great weekend. We are already looking forward to the next one in November.

I look forward to showing you some of the other pages I made over the weekend over the next few days. Until then have fun! xx
