Pretty as a Picture.

Hi scrappy friends!
I am running in to post a layout I made for a UK Facebook group For The Love Of Pretty Paper.
The challenge was a tic, tac toe and the elements I chose were Washi, Doily and ink splats.

Papers and embellishments are from different manufacturers.
The photo is of my eldest daughter in front of a huge picture wall for the Disney film Ratatouille in the Paris park.

A few close -ups of around the page.

I have to go and get ready for work now but I have a weekend crop this weekend so plenty of time to play - Yah!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week.

The Louvre.

I am having a purge of my stash and I am feeling a lot more positive about scrapbooking because of it. I'm amazed at what rubbish I have accumulated over the years with the idea of 'it might come in  handy' or 'what a bargain this sale item is'!
I am determined to be less of a hoarder and make a huge effort to 'use it or lose it'!
Today I have a  double page to share with you using just Heidi Swapp Hello Today paper and a stencil that matches the line.

The photo's are from a day out in Paris at the end of our France/Switzerland holiday last year.
We couldn't possible see all there is to see in a day so when we stopped off at The Louvre we just had enough time to walk through the grounds (and take photo's of course!).

On the left side of the double layout you can see the pattern from the stencil that I used. I only wanted a subtle effect to give a bit of interest to the 'white space'.

In front of these glass pyramids there are posts for you to stand on so that you can take awesome photo's!

A few close up's of the embellishing.

The obligatory fussy cut flower!

I enjoyed stitching a heart to make this circle more interesting!

I still have a few layouts to share with you but I will have to post them when I get some more spare time.
Hope you are enjoying your summer so far, the school holidays started on Friday so I have less time to myself now but at least there are no school runs for a while.

Thanks for stopping by.

Friendly Challenge - Summer.

Bad blogger here!
Life is a bit overwhelming at the moment and my poor blog has suffered because of it, but I had the most delightful day visiting my dear friend Helen yesterday and I think I have come back recharged and optimistic. Nothing like chatting to a friend to get your life back on track!

So for those of you that have been following me for a while (thank you!) you know that Helen and I get together about once a month and spend the day scrapbooking in her craft cabin.
Each time we meet up we share a challenge that we set each other the previous month and last month we set the challenge of scrapping about a season.
Both of us had chosen summer - I think everyones favourite!

Last August we were visiting the Swiss Alps and traveled up to the top of  the Jungfraujoch where it was actually snowing! So my layout about summer has the little twist of being about the white stuff normally reserved for winter.
This layout has watercolour, stamping and glitter of course! The patterned paper is Basic Grey - which I haven't used in years but called to me when looking for suitable paper.

Some of the splats on my page look like paint but are in fact a borrowed stamp with tiny hearts.
and you can't have a summer page without a butterfly and glitter!

This little sticker seemed to be perfect for my photo as we were excited to be out in the snow and enjoying making snow angels and throwing snowballs!

The photo I took of Helen's  layout doesn't do it justice - it is simply stunning! She had also chosen summer but gave herself the additional challenge of using a combination she had not tried before - pink and gold together! I think you will agree that the combination is beautiful and allows the great photo's of her daughter to take center stage.

Lots of pink and gold embellishment goodness - star brads, jazzed up wooden camera and her home-made melted beads dots! Oh and glitter of course!

I loved the bottom corner where a printed card and extra embellishing matched in with the rest of the layout perfectly.

I hope you enjoyed this month's friendly challenge, next month I have set the challenge of creating a layout WITHOUT using our trimmers!

Thank you so much for stopping by and why don't you get together with a crafty friend and set each other a challenge, it is quite fun!

Selfie Bombing!

Another layout for The Memory Nest today as Guest Designer for July.

Today's sketch comes courtesy of Leslie Germain.

A fun and bright layout from me, substituting the third photo for a PL card.
I don't know about you but I have far too many PL cards and I picked this one as it seemed perfect for the photo's ( taking fun selfie's in the Swiss Alps with glaciers in the background!!).

I picked papers that matched the colours in the PL card as the photo's were quite colourless.
I always grab my American Craft paper box when needing bright papers and I selected from various lines for this page.

Stamping straight onto a layout is one of the techniques I rarely attempt as I am always aware of the permanency once the ink makes contact!
This stamped arrow was obviously done in a moment of complete insanity!

I hope you will be able to find time to play along with us at The Memory Nest this month. For details of this challenge head on over to TMN blog HERE.

Thanks for stopping by. xx

Taking Up The Challenge!

Daphne from Scrapbooking Insanity has challenged us this week to create 'twin layouts', as in two pages that do not lead on from one another like a double page often does but are very similar to each other. (Daphne explains it better than me!).
Click HERE to see Daphne's example.

As I had my scrapbook club last night I decided to take up the challenge and use some older photo's from my 2013 holiday that I discovered unscrapped!
The photo's were from the same beach but I wanted to keep the ones of just my girls separate from the group photo's so it worked out perfectly for this challenge.

Here is my twin layout and I think as long as you use the same papers but a different design they go together nicely.

Here is my first layout with my girls exploring the rock pools in a small cove in Ibiza.
I know the spelling is wrong! I have rectified it!!!
The papers are all Echo Park For The Record apart from the paper I cut the sea critters from.

I kept my embellishing and title clustered together.

For the right page I simply took more of the same papers and just changed the design so it looked different but connected by the colours.
Did you spot the cute fishy above the letter D? I had cut him out but he didn't go with the other shells and I didn't want to not use him!

A similar embellishment cluster but the title was placed along the bottom as it was quite long after cutting all the letters out (and I wasn't going to re-cut in a smaller font!).

There you are another challenge met and I will definitely try this with my multi-photo designs again.
Thanks Daphne for the awesome challenge!
If you would like to play along pop on over to Daphne's blog and catch the details there.

Thanks for stopping by and I really should get on with the gardening now!
Bye! xx

Silver Celebration.

I am excited to be a guest designer over at The Memory Nest this month and I was given a couple of great sketches to play with!

Here is the first one, designed by Crystal Schneider.

And my take on the sketch.
My photo's are from way back in 1988 and my parents Silver Wedding Anniversary.
I took my inspiration from the bright blue and red in the photo's for my colour scheme and found that papers in the Pebbles Seen & Noted collection were a perfect match.

I cut the word 'Silver' in my title using silver card, you cam't quite see the effect in the photo as I caught the light wrong.

My obsession with fussy cut flowers!
It's so therapeutic to sit and snip away at gorgeous floral papers, I highly recommend it after a stressful day - it's a bit like colouring in or stroking a cat on your lap!

I will share my second layout with you on the 13th July but until then don't forget to play along with us at The Memory Nest this month.
All the details of this challenge can be found at The Memory Nest Blog HERE.

Thanks for dropping in.

Hello Lake Annecey.

I am still trying to finish scrapping the photo's from last years holiday before we head off and take more snaps in France this summer.
I managed to squeeze in a page for the current challenge over at Challenge YOUrself which ends on 7th July. A nice easy one of 'anything goes' which meant I could incorporate more than one photo, as long as I was in one of them.

Most of the layout is taken up with photo's but I didn't want to use up a double page as I am running out of space in my album!!
I feature in the top photo which unfortunately when printed came out a bit dark and looks like I am in silhouette. But that is me I promise bobbing about in a beautiful (but cold) glacier feed lake in the French Alps.

Just a few pics of the papers/embellishments around the page.

Hope you liked my page and you have a couple of days yet to play along with the Challenge YOUrself girls. To see their take on the challenge and to check out the rules of play just head on over to the Challenge YOUrself blog HERE.

Off to take the car to the garage for it's MOT!!!!
A little retail therapy while I wait I think!
Bye for now.

Lovely.

The current challenge over at The Studio Challenges is to scrap about food!
That's one thing I can guarantee I have photo's about and as I'm still scrapping last years summer holiday (I take far too many photo's!!) I knew I had these photo's about the amazing icecreams at Disney!

Here we are taking a break from the rides to enjoy a variety of the frozen delight.

I made an envelope to place my journaled tag in.

I had this die cut word already cut in white but it sort of got lost in the background so I re-coloured it black to stand out.

Short and sweet from me today but all the details on how to play along and to see the awesome examples from the DT can be found HERE on the TSC blog. The closing date is 4th July.

Thanks for stopping by.
